How can you tell within five minutes that someone is actually listening?

• Lets a silence sit instead of filling it
• Shifts position mid-sentence because of what you said
• Doesn't turn it into their own story
• Repeats your point back better than you made it
• Interrupts — but only to go deeper, not to redirect
• Says "I don't know" about something adjacent
• None of it — five minutes is nowhere near enough
