The Budget promises to cut prices at slower public chargers, the kind found on residential streets, saving electric-car drivers about £150 a year on average. It sets aside £100 million over two years from spring 2028, but how the money will be used is not yet clear. A new pay-per-mile tax for electric and plug-in hybrid cars is still due in April 2028. Would cheaper street charging make you go electric?
